olympic torch
I would bestow this honour on a man who has shown himself to be all that is good in a sportsman and more importantly in a human being .He has shown the world how to deal with adversity and never once complained about the personal tragedy which visited him.None of our great olympians would have any problem if the great Michael Watson was asked to light the olympic flame.Does anyone out there agree ??
Derek redmond! The whole
Derek redmond! The whole world knows who is, noone knows daley or redgrave no matter what they have won. Juts let redmond light it @ the end. true olympic spirit. It would be a world first and the most inspiring torch lighting ever.
Beware that puddle of water
There are as many toilets as athletes at the Olympic Stadium but these are all locked. One or two are opened at random locations - never at the same place each day... and you find huge crowds of cast, workforce and volunteers dashing around the stadium... looking for an open toilet. They spend many hours training, rehearsing and running around. They are located all around the stadium but then have to dash to a distant location to reach a toilet. Total lack of planning and perhaps a lack of consideration by the officials. All the toilets are being cleaned on a daily basis, two or more times a day, but then they are immediately locked. Why bother to clean when they are not in use? Beware that puddle behind the pillars or stands... the kids are peeing every where. Wake up LOCOG.
Princess Anne could be a
Princess Anne could be a dark horse
It should be Princess Anne.
It should be Princess Anne. She is an Olympian, is dedicated to honoring those who do good works and has unceremoniously done her share to support the Olympic movement for the last 30 odd years.

Definetely not, the honour should not be given to someone who is not even an Olympian.

The person who lights the torch should epitomise British values of honesty, fair play and decency. I vote for Phil Tufnell.

Olmpic Flame
I would like to do it. All those people named are famous. I am just an ordinary guy aged 79.
Pick me please. I will pay my own fare over from Northern Ireland I will not need to be paid any expences what so ever.
Ken Jones an Orion Harrier who has done every London Marathon since 1981. Has been a soldier a Policeman and then a civil servant.
Now retired in Northern Ireland is a grand dad to 4 and a Great Grand dad to one little girl.
The person to light the olympic flame.
I would give this opportunity to Simon Weston who has displayed great courage, the ability to overcome massive difficulties and remain postive without becoming bitter and a real insperation to everyone he meets. Or any other person in the armed forces who has been seriously injured and yet overcome their difficulties both physical and mentally to go on.
Seb Coe ! Are there ant
Seb Coe ! Are there ant tickets for it?
I know it sounds crazy but I
I know it sounds crazy but I would give it to one of the relatives of the 1936 Great Britain Ice Hockey Team that won the Gold Medal during the Winter Olympics that Year and refused to give Hitler the Nazi salute all at the same time!
Let the British runner who
Let the British runner who broke down with an injury at Barcelona 1992, who even though he knew he was out and would be last, still had the courage to finish the race; walking over the line with his father. Not a champion but a true Olympian.
Yes, you mean Derek Redmond!
Yes, you mean Derek Redmond! His father helped him cross the line in Barcelona. I think his dad has been nominated for torch bearing? I agree him and his dad should do it! :)
Yes yes yes

Give it to the Unknown Child
Instead of a celebrity hunt, let the last sportstar hand the torch to an unknown child, wearing a mask, representing the youth of the country, and of the world - because we always sold the Games of London as the games for the young - so let that be our message; that the games belong not to the athletes of today, but the promises of tomorrow; in the end to all the children who watch the Games in awe.
