DOUGIE Crawford secured the overall title at the British Land National Ski Championships with his fourth victory in Meribel.

Crawford - who also won the downhill, super-G and giant slalom - claimed the super combined title to become the first male winner of the overall prize since Alain Baxter nine years ago.
Chemmy Alcott, who was won seven times since 1999, settled for second but won the women's super combined, the event in which she ranked eighth in the recently concluded World Cup season.
"It a big thing and I'm really pleased," said Crawford, who was overlooked for a place on the British Olympic team in Vancouver.
"I could not have thought about winning this at the beginning of the week. I am thrilled to win.
"I am really pleased to win this many titles, to be up there in everything. I don't like to ski tactically and I really have gone for each title each day."
However, reality now bites for Crawford and the British ski team, whose governing body, SnowsportGB, went into administration on the eve of the Winter Olympics.
The British Olympic Association have moved quickly to temporarily fill the void but the future remains unclear, as UK Sport prepare to announce their funding allocations on the long road to Sochi.
"Right now we just have no idea what is going to happen, so it is hard to think about targets for next season when there is no guarantee, it is not looking very good for a programme to support us," added Crawford.

Crawford's win
Why has so little publicity appeared in the national press about this remarkable win ? It is not often that an athlete not selected for the Olympics (on a technicality) defeats all his rival Olympians who were selected, within two months of an Olympics !
