GREAT Britain will return from the Shanghai World Cup empty-handed and sub-standard performances in the team competitions on Saturday.

The women's trio of 2004 Olympic bronze medallists Alison Williamson, Naomi Folkard and Charlotte Burgess reached the second round with an impressive win over Japan but met their match against top seeds Korea.

But Korea, who eventually reached the final, did not have it all their own way against the Brits and found themselves 54-50 ahead, on to lose out 216 to 208.

Meanwhile, in the men's tournament, British trio Alan Wills, Simon Terry and Larry Godfrey fell at the first hurdle after a 213-209 defeat to Germany.
