BRITISH archer Mark Nesbitt has targeted at least a silver medal after cruising his way into the quarter-finals at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
The 18-year-old, who clinched double gold last January at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, notched up the third highest score of 638 in the recurve ranking round.
He then easily overcame Thailand's Harikul Tanapat in their last-16 clash and will face Singapore's Mohamed Jaffar in the quarter final on Saturday.
Nesbitt said: "It went really well today, despite the weather, which was a bit tricky.
"I was really happy with third in the ranking round and dealt with the pressure well against my opponent from Thailand in the round of 16, after he started with three straight tens.
"I definitely think I can go the whole way to the final now."
Nesbitt has already made his senior international debut at the European Championships in May, and he believes a successful outing in Singapore will see him take a big step closer towards London 2012.
