CHRIS Tomlinson has become the latest major name to withdraw from this weekend's European Indoor Championships in Turin.

Tomlinson, who won silver at last year's World Indoors in Valencia, is struggling with an Achilles problem.

He joins team-mates Kelly Sotherton, Jade Johnson and Chris Warburton on the crocked list.

Tomlinson will now head to warm weather training in Florida in a bid to be fit for the outdoor season, with August's World Championships in Berlin his priority aim.

New head coach Charles Van Commenee, whose preparations for his first major championship have already been overshadowed by the serialisation of Dwain Chambers's autobiography, said: "Chris has an Achilles problem which hasn't recovered after competing in Prague last week."
