"I feel really confident, I've just got to keep fit and healthy.
"I don't want to put a limit on where I want to come, but top 20 would be nice."
Twell broke clear after 2km and crossed the line in 28 minutes 17 seconds with Sarah Tunstall, the world mountain running champion, in second and Jane Potter claiming third - and the final guaranteed place on the British team.
In the men's event English national champion Frank Tickner edged out British Universities champion Andy Vernon by three seconds in a time of 37 mins 23 secs. Lee Merrien claimed third.
