Grabarz sets new personal best to move third on all-time UK high jump list
IN-FORM British high jumper Robbie Grabarz recorded a new personal best but settled for second at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Rome.
The 24-year old improved his recent attention-grabbing winning mark in Rome to jump a career high 2.36 metres, which moved him third on the all-time list behind only Dalton Grant and Steve Smith.
It's a height that would have tied him for gold at the Beijing Olympics but he was pipped to his second straight Diamond League win by home favourite Jesse Williams on count back.
Elsewhere, Marilyn Okoro clocked a time of 1:59.37 seconds to finish third in the women's 800m, the same position achieved by Andrew Osagie in the men's event - although he clocked a personal best of 1:44.61.
Goldie Sayers admitted she felt 'out of sorts' and was just outside the medals in the javelin with her throw of 59.23m, while Lawrence Okoye came fifth in the discus with a distance of 63.87m.
