The recently crowned European indoor 60m champion has been forced to cross the Atlantic to compete in the Mt SAC relays in California this weekend because of a ban on convicted drugs cheats by many of the leading promoters in Europe - including the powerful EuroMeetings consortium.
Chambers will compete in the 200m at the event and expects to run in a British team in the 4x200m relay - although he concedes this is not a u-turn by UK Athletics chief Charles van Commenee, who is insisting the sprinter will not be selected for relay duty this season.
Natasha Danvers, the Olympic 400m hurdles bronze medallist, will also be in action at the event, which celebrates its 51st anniversary this year.
