Farah was undecided whether to compete over 3,000m in Istanbul but after winning the same event at last year's European Indoor Championships, which was followed by a gold and silver at the World Championships, he has decided to keep following a winning formula.

Defending world indoor champions Jessica Ennis and Dwain Chambers are also named for the pentathlon and 60m respectively while Holly Bleasdale will look to cement her growing reputation in the women's pole vault.

Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu is also selected for the 400m relay, despite having not competed indoors this season.

Between them the team has set 19 personals bests this year and three British record - and boast three world leading performances. There are five new caps, including recently crowned indoor 60m hurdles champion Andy Pozzi.

“This is a strong team and one that can realistically challenge for medals and make finals," said UKA head coach Charles van Commenee.

“There are some good athletes coming through and I am looking forward to seeing how they perform on the senior international stage.

“There have been some good performances during the indoor season which bodes well for Istanbul and beyond. The indoor season gives useful information about how athletes are progressing. It is important to remember the focus still remains on London 2012.”
