Kenteris, who won 200m gold at Sydney 2000, and Kenteris, the 100m silver medallist Down Under, face the charges in connection to their claims over a motorcycle accident on August 12, 2004.

The duo, who at the time were expected to be the hosts' stars of Games, were also accused of staging the crash to avoid a doping test.

Court officials said their trial was postponed on Wednesday until January 12 because earlier cases on the court list took longer than expected.

The statute of limitations on their charges runs out in 2012. Neither were present in court but if found guilty they could face up to two years in prison.
