The 27-year old was pushed close in the first game, but cruised home in the second to win 21-17, 21-14 and book a final berth against Japan's Kenichi Tago.

The Malaysian has been untouchable since lifting the Super Series Masters Finals in front of a home crowd in December.

And having won the opening two Super Series events of the season in Korea and Malaysia, Lee is in prime position for a third consecutive title in Birmingham.

While Gade fell at the final hurdle, compatriot Tine Rasmussen booked her place in her third consecutive All England Championships final.

The 30-year old defeated India's Saina Nehwal in straight games and will face China's number one seed Wang Yihan in a repeat of last year's final.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles final will be a straight shoot-out between two Danish pairings for the first time in 43 years in Birmingham.

Fourth seeds Matthias Boe and Carsten Mogensen knocked out China's Guo Zhendong and Xu Chen in the semis before 2003 world champions Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen joined them in the final with a three-game defeat of Indonesia's third seeds, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan

While the men's final is an all-Danish encounter, the women's doubles final will  be between two Chinese pairs.

All four semi finalists in Birmingham were Chinese but it was top seeds Du Jing and Yu Yang as well as third seeds Cheng Shu and Zhao Yunlei who progressed.

Finally, Indonesia's Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir, who ended British interest in Birmingham by knocking out Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork in the last eight, will face China's Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei in the mixed doubles final on Sunday.
