SOUTH Korea stunned former winners Indonesia to book their place in the final of the Sudirman Cup, badminton's world team championship.

They will now play either Malaysia or six-times champions, hosts and red hot favourites China in Sunday's final.

The mixed doubles partnership of Lee Yong-Dae and Lee Hyo-Jung put South Korea in control but Sony Dwi Kuncoro leveled the scores when he beat Park Sung-Hwan in the men's singles.

Hwang Hye-Youn claimed the women's singles rubber to put South Korea into a 2-1 lead and Jung Jae-Sung and Lee Yong-Dae took the men's doubles to secure a final place.

Meanwhile, the Badminton World Federation have announced the format of the tournament is to be changed in order to give all teams the chance to win the trophy,

Seedings based on world rankings will be decided before the event and group stage will be followed by knock-out matches.

It means positions from this year’s event, with regards to relegation and promotion, will not influence the 2011 edition.

The next venue for the Sudirman Cup will be decided later this year, with one Asian and one European city bidding to be hosts.
