ENGLAND'S Jenny Wallwork and Gabby White upstage to odds to see off sixth seeds Sheny Puspa Irawati and Meiliana Jauhari to reach the quarter finals of the French Open.

Wallwork and White, England's number one pairing and ranked 21st in the world, were forced to save four match points before sealing a thrilling 13-21, 35-23, 21-11 victory over the Indonesian duo.

The England pair will now face China's second seeds Cheng Shu and Zhao Yunlei on Friday.

Also through to the last eight are Singapore Open champions Nathan Robertson and Anthony Clark, who proved too strong for New Zealand's Oliver Leydon-Davies and Henry Tam.

Robertson and Clark cruised through to the quarter finals 21-5, 21-11 but will now face much sterner opposition in the form of Malaysian second seeds Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong.

The Malaysian pairing booked their quarter-final place, courtesy of a comfortable 21-11, 21-17 win over England's Marcus Ellis and Peter Mills.

England pairings Andrew Ellis and Dean George, as well as Chris Langridge and Robin Middleton also bowed out in Paris, going down to China's Junjie and Tao Jiaming and Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan and Bona Septano respectively.

Middleton also missed out in the mixed doubles when he and Mariana Agathangelou crashed out to last week's Denmark Open winners and fourth seeds Joachim Fischer-Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen 21-12, 21-15.

Dean George and Samantha Ward lost to sixth seeds Diju Valiyaveetil and Jwala Gutta of India 19-21 21-10 21-16.

And in the men's singles England's world number 21 Rajiv Ouseph could not follow up his first-day win over eighth seed Chan Yan Kit as he was knocked out by China's Chen Long 21-11, 21-9.
