Rocks keep up pressure on top two with win over Lions
GLASGOW Rocks cemented their third place in the British Basketball League as they defeated Marshall MK Lions to keep the pressure up on the top two.
The Rocks dominated the game with Steve Parillon notching up 26 points while Jessie Sapp chipped in with 23 to ensure the Scottish team ran out 108-78 winners.
Lions' Yorick Williams went on a one man crusade to keep his team in the match as he knocked down five three-point shots in the third quarter but it was not enough to match the scoring prowess of the Rocks.
The home win keeps the Rocks in third with 34 points and two games in hand on second place Newcastle Eagles while the Lions are locked mid-table with 28 points in fifth.
The Cheshire Jets join the Lions on 28 points after a resounding 104-76 win at home over bottom club PAWS London Capital.
James Hamilton was top scorer for the Jets with 31 points while Chez Marks hit 21 and Shawn Myers scored 20.
Airwaves Plymouth Raiders moved up to 16 points to stay in 11th after overcoming ninth placed Guildford Heat in a close fought encounter 96-95.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Eagles take a four point lead into their BBL Trophy semi final after they came out on top against Everton Tigers 89-85.
The Tigers will be disappointed with the result ahead of next Friday's return leg after leading by nine points midway through the final period before capitulating to a late charge from the Eagles.
