Everton and Newcastle continue title push

NEWCASTLE EAGLES and Everton Tigers picked up important victories to boost their BBL Championship title aspirations.

The Eagles remained on top of the Championship table thanks to an 88-72 victory over the MK Lions at the Metro Radio Arena, while the Tigers remained hot on their heels after an 80-69 defeat of the Sheffield Sharks.

Newcastle led from tip-to-buzzer in their game, and an 11-3 burst midway through the final quarter gave them their biggest lead of the game at 81-60.

Trey Moore was in good form for the home side leading all scorers in the contest with 21 points for the Eagles.

Everton had to come from behind against the Sharks after trailing 33-39 at the half.

The home side enjoyed runs of 15-4 and 10-4 in the third period to break the game open and take the lead at 58-48 towards the end of the third period.

Josh Gross continued his impressive season to lead all scorers in the game with an impressive 26-point haul for the Tigers.
