Leedham disappointed as Canada level series in Edinburgh
JO Leedham claimed some hard words were exchanged as Great Britain's basketball women were caught cold by Canada in Edinburgh.
Tom Maher's British side had soundly beaten their world number 11 opponents 24 hours earlier, but the fired-up Canadians responded to level the friendly series with a 63-50 victory.
Great Britain's Leedham and Natalie Stafford contributed game high 14 point hauls but Courtnay Pilypaitis gave the guests breathing room.
“That’s not what we’re about,” said Leedham.
“We’ve showed glimpses of how we need to be and the style we need to play. But not to do it consistently really hurts, especially in Edinburgh where the crowd was really great, it was disappointing.
“They were really physical/ They gave us a taste of our own medicine after yesterday. We kind of sat there and took it and didn’t swing many punches back.
“At the end of the second quarter we put them under pressure and that enabled us to cut the lead. But we made too many mistakes.”
