POWER forward Frank Holmes inspired Marshall MK Lions to a thumping victory over London Capital as his side closed the gap on league leaders Sheffield Sharks to four points.

Holmes continued his excellent recent form of late by notching 32 points, which, combined with Dawud Morris, who scored 23 points in 18 minutes, saw the Lions roar to a 102-54 win.

Yorick Lions began the rout for the Lions before Holmes and EJ Harrison chipped in to give the hosts an early 9-1 lead, which quickly became 35-12 after the first quarter.

The Capitals, led by the impressive Ibrahim Gariba, did threaten to mount a comeback at the start of the second quarter, scoring six points without reply but, Holmes ensured the Lions still had a 25-pont advantage at the half-time interval.

The third quarter belonged to Morris, who netted all four of his three point attempts, as the Lions ran riot before romping home to a crushing 48-point win.

And Lions boss Vince Macaulay was quick to praise the professionalism of his side, despite going into the game as heavy favourites to defeat the struggling Capital, who currently lie second from bottom in the BBL.

"I was very pleased with the team's performance and it is encouraging to see Frank Holmes finding his feet over here," he said. "Every win you can get is important in this league."
