BBL ChampionshipNEWCASTLE Eagles have kept up the pressure at the top of the table with two weekend wins to put them level on points with Sheffield Sharks in the BBL Championship.

The Eagles won away at Worcester Wolves 77-82 and then secured another win on their travels over fourth place Marshall MK Lions 87-101.

Great Britain captain, Andrew Sullivan, was back to help the Eagles to victory against the Wolves with Reggie Jackson and Lynard Stewart leading the scoring with 16 points.

Jackson was on form again notching 24 points at the Centre MK while Sullivan went one better with 25 to ensure the Eagles finished with a 14 point advantage over the Lions.

The Sharks made it eight wins in a row in their only game of the weekend to keep their slender advantage at the top as they overcame Guildford Heat 99-88 to remain unbeaten in the league in 2010.

Mike Cook contributed with 33 points while Ryan Patton hit 21 to put the Sharks in pole position with a game in hand over second placed Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Lions were unable to replicate last week's 97-90 victory over the Wolves, as they lost their second game of the weekend 82-122 to Everton Tigers.

The result meant that, coupled with Glasgow Rocks 70-75 triumph over Cheshire Jets and 95-77 win over Essex Pirates, the Lions slip down to fourth place, whilst the Rocks take third spot.

The Tigers picked up their second win of the weekend against Worthing Thunder, 82-90 to keep them at the top end of the table in fifth with 28 points.

Elsewhere, PAWS London Capital remain stuck to the bottom of the table staying on six points after a 73-91 home defeat to the Thunder.

Guildford Heat and the Jets played out a mid-table clash which the Jets edged 88-85 to keep them ninth and seventh respectively.

Leicester Riders snatched a 94-93 win against Plymouth Raiders to keep them in sixth while the Raiders stay near the bottom in 11th.
