TORA Berger ensured Norway topped the medal table at the IBU Biathlon World Championships as she claimed her third gold medal on the final day in Ruhpolding.

Berger opened her campaign with the mixed team relay, helping Norway to gold, but was off the pace and off the podium in the 7.5km sprint and 10km pursuit that followed.

However a spirited performance in the 15km individual had the desired effect as Berger won her second gold while claiming bronze with the Norwegian 4x6km relay team.

And with a return to individual competition, in the form of 12.5km mass start, presenting itself on the final day in Germany Berger made the absolute most of it.

She shot 19 out of 20 targets and showed a great turn of speed to win in a time of 35:41.6minutes with Marie Laure Brunet second - 8.1seconds behind.

Kaisa Makarainen completed the podium in third a further 4.6 back as Berger's gold, her third, and victory in the men's 4x7.5km relay saw Norway top the medal table.
