Dukurs effectively etched his name onto the World Cup trophy for the third time in a row after recording six wins from seven this season - his only blip a sixth in Koenigssee last month.

And the reigning world and European champion and Olympic silver medallist ensured there was only going to be one outcome in Canada as he stormed to yet another victory.

Dukurs led from start to finish posting runs of 55.76seconds and then 56.12 for an overall winning time of 1:51.88minutes - well over half a second ahead of Russian Alexander Tretiakov.

It was the second successive time that Tretiakov had to settle for silver behind Dukurs as he clocked 1:52.56 while Frank Rommel, the only other person to win a World Cup race this season, was third.

He got the better of Dukurs' elder brother Tomass while British duo Kristan Bromley and Adam Pengilly failed to end their seasons with a podium finish after placing 14th and 15th respectively.

Martins Dukurs takes the overall title with 1751 points - 146 ahead of Rommel whose lowest finish of the season was fifth in La Plagne while Tomass Dukurs was third overall.
