THREE-time Olympic bronze medallist Beat Hefti claimed the overall two-man bobsleigh FIBT World Cup title in perfect style after claiming victory in the final race of the season.

WORLD CUP WINNER: Beat Hefti secured the overall title with yet another victory in Calgary

Hefti has been the form pilot during the World Cup and alongside brakeman Thomas Lamparter hadn't finished off the podium in all seven races prior heading to Calgary.

That entailed two wins, two seconds and three thirds as he took control of the overall standings and in Canada he picked up yet another victory to seal the World Cup crown once again.

Champion in 2009 in the two-man bobsleigh, Hefti posted the fastest run of the first round, clocking 55.07seconds, and recorded the exact same time in the second to maintain the lead.

His and Lamparter's winning time of 1:50.14minutes was just one hundredth of a second better than German duo Manuel Machata and Andreas Bredau, who were fastest second time out.

And fellow German's Maximilian Arndt and Kevin Kuske were on hand to deny Lyndon Rush and Jesse Lumsden from finishing on the podium in their home country by taking bronze.

But with Arndt Hefti's nearest challenger third wasn't good enough to take the overall title as he finished with 1573 points - 122 away from the Switzerland pilot's winning total.

Rush settled for fourth in Calgary seven hundredths of a second behind Arndt in 1:50.47 with Alexsandr Zubkov fifth for third overall and Brit John Jackson placed 19th after his two runs.

Joined by brakeman Bruce Tasker that was his fifth top-20 World Cup finish from six World Cup races this season as he ranked 17th overall however none have been higher than 12th.
