Switzerland's Rueegg claims world two-man gold

SWITZERLAND'S Ivo Rueegg and Cedric Grand claimed the two-man bobsleigh world title in Lake Placid.

Rueegg finished the four-heat race at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games venue in 3 minutes, 42.20 seconds Sunday to beat Germany's Thomas Florschuetz and Marc Kuehne by 0.22 seconds.



Home hopes Steven Holcomb and Curtis Tomasevicz won bronze - America's first two-man world championship medal in 12 years.

Great Britain's Lee Johnston - and brakeman Dan Money - finished 20th while team-mates John Jackson and Henry Nwume were 22nd.
