Yafai, who turns 21 on Friday, was one of only two of the seven British boxers to remain in the amateur ranks after Beijing and he showed his class with a fine 9-1 victory over Armenia's Derenik Gizhlaryan at the 51kg weight category.
Despite going behind early on, Yafai dominated his opponent, scoring points in each round with clean accurate shots.
Weaver meanwhile, has capped an excellent 12 months with at least a European bronze, adding to gold in the Commonwealth Feds and silver in the tough Prime Minstry tournament in Turkey.
The 20-year-old featherweight, who shares his birthday with none other than Muhammad Ali, stormed into an early 3-0 lead against Oualid Belaoura and while the Frenchman fought back, Weaver racked up a comfortable 12-7 victory.
But there was to be disappointment for Obed Mbwakongo who, despite going into his final round level at 7-7 with Abdelkader Bouhenia of France, crashed to an 11-9 defeat and missed out on the medals in the 81kg category.
In quarter-final action and looking to further Great Britain's medal tally tomorrow will be Tommy Stubbs, fighting at the 48kg category, Gamal Yafai, younger brother of Khalid, at 54kg, along with Andrew Selby, while Tom Stalker will compete at 60kg.
