DELHI 2010: Evans back in the ring for one last Commonwealth medal bid
KEVIN EVANS, who won boxing medals at the 1998 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, has confirmed he will come out of retirement to compete in Delhi.
The Welsh heavyweight hung up his gloves after losing to England's David Price in the super-heavyweight final in Melbourne four years ago.
But the lure of one last competition has tempted him back into the ring.
"The Commonwealth Games have proved to be the defining moments of my life. Delhi 2010 is going to be one hell of an experience. I'm just so grateful for this amazing opportunity. I'm ready to give it my best shot," he said.
"This is definitely my last ever Games. I'm 33 and I'm at the age limit.
"I'd class myself as a wildcard as I'm not too sure what to expect. I've been off the scene for four years but I know that I'm stronger than ever.
"My last bout was in Melbourne four years ago but I've been sparring here and there. I'm going into it with no pressure. I'm hoping I can go out there and enjoy it."
