Davies headed into the bronze medal bout with Poland's Dawid Michelus with his confidence battered following a heavy semi-final defeat to Shiva Thapa from India.

But the 18-year-old looked to have put that semi-final heartache firmly to the back of his mind early on in the bronze medal fight - leading 5-4 after the first round.

However with the bronze medal in his sights the wheels then came off for Davies, losing the next two rounds to eventually go down 12-7.

"I'm really down at the minute because I would have loved to have come away with a bronze medal," said Davies.

"If I could have got the bronze medal it would have been amazing, so I am really disappointed.

"It has been hard out in Singapore because I have really struggled with my weight because of the weather and so that has made it difficult.

"But I am just absolutely gutted. I came here really wanting to win a medal and I thought I could do it but it doesn't always pan out like that."

Davies ultimately paid the price for a poor second round performance which saw Michelus turn a one-point deficit into a four-point advantage going into the final round.

He fought manfully to try and overturn the advantage but his Polish opponent won the round to secure victory.
