The 31-year old Scot failed to defend his title when the continents' best slalom canoeists came to his home waters in Nottingham last month.

But he won the kayak single in the second of the three-event World Cup series, beating nearest rival, Italy's Daniele Molmenti, by 1.55 seconds.

Olympic silver medallist David Florence, who claimed two bronze medals in the World Cup opener at Pau, finished tenth in the canoe single and failed to reach the doubles final.
