Koe fully expects to meet Norway again in the final

 CANADA'S Kevin Koe exacted revenge over Norway's Torger Nergard to reach the final of the World Curing Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo - and fully expects a rematch when he goes for gold.

Norway and Canada both advanced to page one versus two play-off match with ten and nine wins respectively in the round robin stage, after Nergard downed Koe 9-8 in their final match.

But in their play-off match, Koe raced to a thumping 11-5 victory after just eight ends to book his place in the final, while Nergard will have to overcome either Scotland or the USA to earn a shot at gold.

But Koe, who will be bidding to upgrade Canada's 2009 world silver to gold on Sunday, believes he will meet Nergard for a third time in Italy.   

"I wasn't too worried after the first game, it wasn't our best game but we've been good at bouncing back after losses and we got off to a really good start and played well," said Koe. 

"It can be a funny game, some days you're off and some days you're on.  We flicked the switch from when we were off a little bit, and we played great.

"We've always played well in the bigger games all year, so one more to go. We don't have any preferences (about who we face in the final). 

"I'd be a little surprised if it's not Norway, they've been the best team all week, but all three are pretty good.

"Once in a while you think about being world champion.  It's been quite a year and it's now one more to go. It'd be nice to round it off with another big win and become world champs."

Meanwhile, Norwegian skip Nergard refused to be too downbeat despite such an emphatic defeat.

He said: "We got off to a bad start, we had to take some chances after they stole the two, and they got the five a couple of ends later, that was about it. 

"We just didn't execute well and they played phenomenally.  We had to take some chances, and that's why the numbers are so bad."
