GREAT Britain's curlers have given Team GB's dreadful start to the World University Winter Games a silver lining, with two victories in the afternoon session in Harbin.

Both the men's and women's teams picked up wins as day two in the ‘Ice City' was dominated by South Korea and home nation China.

The female team of Sarah Reid, Laura Kirkpatrick, Kay and Victoria Adams, and skipped by Sarah Macintyre recovered from a resounding 11-3 defeat to China in the morning, to claim an impressive 9-3 win over Korea.

And the men, skipped by Michael Goodfellow edged a particularly tense encounter with the USA 6-5.

He was well supported by Thomas Pendreigh,  John Hamilton, Andrew Craigie and Ian Copland. The latter two were part of the silver medal winning team, two years ago in Turin.
