REIGNING champion David Murdoch advanced to Saturday's play-offs at the Scottish Championships.

But there was no place in the final four for 2006 Olympic team-mate Warwick Smith or former world champion Hammy McMillan.

In his final two group games, Murdoch survived a scare against Lee McCreary but then comfortably dispatched Alan Smith to secure his place.

He will now take on second-placed Tom Brewster for a place in the final while Perth's Peter Loudon and Glen Muirhead contest the other play-off match.
