DAVID Murdoch must beat Aberdeen's Tom Brewster for the second time in as many days if he is to retain his Scottish curling title.

The three-time European champion edged past Brewster - ranked second after the group stages - 6-3 to advance through the final play-off.

Brewster then beat Perth's Glen Muirhead 7-5 in a closely fought semi-final to earn a chance at revenge in Sunday's final.

However, Muirhead's sister Eve went one better in the women's event.

She beat Lockerbie's Claire Hamilton 8-7 in a tense semi-final and will now take on Stirling's Kelly Wood in the final.

Meanwhile, Michael McCreadie's hopes of a medal at the World Wheelchair Championships in Vancouver were dealt a blow after Britain went down 10-2 to hosts Canada in their opening group match.
