OLYMPICS LONDON 2012: Team GB on course for first-ever gold

GREAT Britain qualified for tonight’s women’s team pursuit final as the fastest qualifiers after a stunning ride in round one at London 2012.

The team of Laura Trott, Danielle King and Joanna Rowsell posted a new world record time of 3:14.682 minutes – an extraordinary fifth in a row for the trio.

The team were fastest going into today’s first round after lowering their own world record to 3:15.669 minutes in yesterday’s qualifying.

Team GB will be full of confidence as they bid to win the first-ever Olympic women’s team pursuit title later tonight.
