After the cancellation of the Para-Cycling Road Track Championships in Cali, Colombia earlier this year, British riders will be keen to make an impression with Rachel Morris and David Stone, both gold medallists from the recent UCI Para Cycling World Cup, also selected.
"After the recent strong performances at the Para-Cycling World Cup, the team had pretty much selected itself. All the riders selected have the ability to deliver some very strong performances at these World Championships," said Gareth Sheppard, performance manager for the GB Para-Cycling team.
"We are not setting specific performance goals, instead we want to ensure that every member of the team, both rider and support staff has performed to the best of their ability.
"If after the competition we can say that, then it will have been a success. If not, we will need to have a long hard look in the mirror and learn and keep building for London 2012, which is the ultimate goal."
The squad in full is: Karen Darke, Shaun McKeown, Rachel Morris, David Stone, Sarah Storey, Lora Turnham / Rebecca Rimmington (Pilot), Rik Waddon
