Contador claims Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco

ALBERTO Contador has won the Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco for the second year in a row, after a blistering finish to stage six.

The 26-year-old, who led the overall classification over night in the Basque Country, raced home in 31:59 minutes, 22 seconds ahead of compatriot Toni Colom in the 24km time trial.

Contador, who rides for Astana, edged out Colom in the overall classification as well, with another Spaniard Samuel Sanchez, finishing in third.

Great Britain's Ben Swift, who rides for Team Katusha, claimed victory in the points classification with 50, ahead of Luis Leon Sanchez, who claimed 46.
