WHAT is it with cyclists and breakfast?

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE: Audrey Hepburn and Victoria Pendleton - but which is the real Holly Golightly?
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE: Audrey Hepburn and Victoria Pendleton - but which is the real Holly Golightly?

The race for stars of Britain's Olympic team to cash in on their marketing value ahead of London 2012 was started by Sir Chris Hoy peddling - pardon the pun - Bran Flakes.

Now Victoria Pendleton has become the face of bread.

She is one of the big-name pin-ups of the British Olympic team and in Beijing her winning style was paired off with the perfect accessory - a winning gold.

Not adverse to glamming up, it's unlikely that she would have taken much persuasion to reprise the role of Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

But who decided to replace Holly's trademark cigarette holder with a crisp triangle of wholemeal - the clean-living Miss P or a man from the Hovis marketing department?

Expect many more of these endorsements to follow in the coming months - but Pendleton's dressing-up act has set the bar high.

The Face of Bread

By an eerie coincidence, I could see Victoria Pendleton's face in the bread roll I had for breakfast this morning.

The Face of Bread

Are you sure it wasn't Audrey Hepburn's face you could see? Either way, it couldn't have been as scary as the pain au chocolat I bought last week that looked like Vinny Jones. I completely lost my appetite.

The Face of Bread

No, it was definitely Victoria. The expression was that of someone riding a bike very fast. I would have taken a photo but I was too hungry.
