SIR Chris Hoy admits he is still in the dark over whether he will be able to compete at the Commonwealth Games in October as confusion over the European Championships continues to rage.

The four-time Olympic champion already has two Commonwealth gold medals to his name and is desperate to pull on the Scottish vest once more in Delhi.

But world cycling body, the UCI, announced changes to the Olympic qualification criteria, ensuring the European Championships - previously an under-23 event - will provide qualifying opportunities, along with the World Championships and World Cup events.

The qualification window for London 2012 opened at the World Championships in March in Denmark but the UCI are yet to confirm the dates of the European Championships - which could still clash with the Commonwealth Games.

"I'm planning to go to Delhi at present but to be honest I don't really know what's going to happen and it's a bit frustrating.

"It's just not very easy to prepare because it takes time to get yourself ready for a major event and you need to know when it will be so you can build yourself up to it.

"The UCI tend to drop bombshells so I'll do whatever the programme at the Commonwealth Games dictates.

"We're still not even sure about the European Championships and whether there will be one for the elite category."

In 2002 in Manchester, Hoy took Commonwealth gold in the kilo before joining forces with Ross Edgar and Craig MacLean to top the team sprint podium.
