Having seen off Northern Ireland 3-2 this morning, Sibley took the first set 11-7 against Effiom, but lost a close second set 12-10.

However, the England number two made no mistake in the third and fourth sets winning 11-8 and 11-6 as Sibley and co bid to win the group and avoid a quarter-final showdown with favourites Singapore.

Sibley was delighted with the way the team performed.

"It was a really good day's work, we're really pleased," she said.

"We're seeded two, so our goal is a medal and we've had a good day's work today.

"So hopefully tomorrow we can top our group and take every match as it comes. We don't want to get too over excited and look ahead too far."

England's men had similar success with victory in the team competition against Mauritius.

Paul Drinkhall, Darius Knight and Liam Pitchford all won to cap a strong day for England's table tennis squads.
