Sylvester, 16, arrived in Singapore fresh from winning bronze at the European Championships in Budapest and despite impressing in qualifying, faded to finish tenth in the final, with a below-par score of 351.60

"Overall though I can take a lot of experience from being here into the World Junior Championships next month," she said.

"The qualifying this morning went really well and I was quite excited coming into the final but it didn't really go the way I'd have liked."

China's Liu Jiao will be one to beat at the World Juniors after beating Malaysia's Pandelela Pamg, the pre-event favourite, with a 479.40 points total.

It was Liu's second major 10m platform victory in Singapore in little more than a year, she also won the gold medal at the venue at last years Asian Youth Games.

"It's not easy by any standard (to win in the same pool)," said Liu.

"The first medal was competing against Asia and now it's on the international stage."
