Wilson regains lead at Bramham International
NICOLA Wilson stormed back into the lead at the Bramham International three-day event - despite seeing her horse Master Banks lose a horseshoe.
Wilson had leapfrogged Daisy Dick into first place overnight, after the Olympic bronze medallist was forced to withdraw Springbok IV from the competition after the dressage round.
And while Master Banks lost a shoe at the first water jump, Wilson retained her composure to come home under the time limit and remain on her dressage score of 44.8 points.
"I just saw the shoe flying past," said Wilson. "Somebody probably had a narrow escape.
"He is a very grumpy horse at home and can be a bit insecure but he gave me a lovely ride.
"I tend to ride better under pressure, so let's hope that holds tomorrow.
"I have it all to lose but I shall keep my fingers crossed and hope everything works out okay."
Master Banks will take a two-point advantage over Pippa Funnell's Ensign into the final phase on Sunday.
