SHE'S been the ice queen and now she's the comeback queen but Sasha Cohen is a long way from being crowned at next month's Winter Olympics.

However, 2006 Turin figure skating silver medallist insists she can recapture her former glory ahead of her return to the sport at the US National Championships next week.

Cohen has not competed competitively since the World Championships in 2006, the same year she was crowned US champion.

Cohen, now 25, announced her return to figure skating in May of last year but her ongoing struggle with injuries meant she was forced to pull out of her planned appearances on the ISU Grand Prix circuit.

Reunited with her old coach, John Nicks, the American is confident of returning to her best in Spokane when the women's competition kicks off in ten days time.

"I've worked so hard. I've really put myself on the line for this," said Cohen.

"I want to be there. I want to make the Olympic team for Vancouver.

"I hope to skate great. I may be nervous, but I'm really excited."
