The 18-year-old's maiden Olympic appearance on a wet and windy Cypress Mountain lasted just 31.99 seconds as she battled valiantly to 24th out of a 27-strong field.

However with only the top 20 securing safe passage into the final it wasn't enough to see Koyander - the lowest ranked athlete on the start list - through.

Koyander was awarded a score of 18.98 by a seven-strong judging panel but has vowed to not to be in the same position in four years' time.

"It feels great to be an Olympian and compete in front of such a great crowd - I can't wait to do it all over again," said Koyander.

"I am just feeling absolutely incredible right now. It is such an amazing experience and the crowd was huge, it was terrific.

"I will stay out in Canada now until the closing ceremony, I will watch the men's moguls tomorrow and then get out to as many events as I can aerials, ski cross and maybe some bobsleigh."

Bad weather has wreaked havoc on the Cypress Mountain course over the past week with first a lack of snow and then heavy fog and rain threatening to postpone Koyander's Olympic debut.

However Britain's only moguls representative on the 52-strong team played down the effect of the adverse conditions on her performance and likened the unseasonal weather to that of back home in Chesterfield.

"The weather he has been a bit like back in England - it has been really rainy but I have been able to deal with those changes in temperatures," she added.

"It was really slushy but I laid down a great run. I have learnt so much since being in Canada, it is biggest crowd I have ever skied in front of."
