The 33-year old may have missed out on an Olympic medal in Vancouver last month, but she has never been far from the podium in the World Cup races, with Friday's silver her eighth podium finish from the 11 races.

Sweden's Anna Holmlund proved too quick for David on the day, capturing her fourth win of the season, but it will mean little to David, who beat Norway's Marte Hoeie Gjefsen in a repeat of the podium from Meiringen-Hasliberg five days ago.

Meanwhile, having lifted the Olympic title and World Cup title, Switzerland's Michael Schmid brought the curtain down on his successful season in the same way he started it - with World Cup gold.

The 26-year old has been the star of the freestyle skiing ski cross circuit this season, taking the inaugural Olympic crown at a canter and romping to five World Cup victories.

And the fifth of his wins was one of his best, as he glided down the tricky run in Spain.

The Swiss made his intentions clear by setting the fastest time in qualifying before taking his foot off the pedal to cruise through the knock-out rounds.

But it was all systems go again in the big final, as Schmid held off the attentions of Norway's former World Cup champion Audun Groenvold and compatriot Andreas Steffen to strike gold with Canadian rival Christopher Del Bosco fourth.
