CHINA'S Olympic champion He Kexin halted American dominance as she lifted a well-deserved gold with a near-faultless display in the women's asymmetric bars.

With a winning margin of over a point, the 17-year-old overcame the pressure she felt in qualification from an excitable crowd to score an amazing 16.0.

She said: "I'm so satisfied with my result and I really just want to relax now.

"I felt a little nervous in qualification because the audience made so much noise and that really puts the pressure on.

"The weather, traffic and food in England are not as bad as I had been told so I can't wait to come back for the London 2012 Olympics!"

American Rebecca Bross, second in the all-round final on Friday, yet again missed out on top spot after she could only claim a joint bronze medal with Romanian Ana Porgras with Japan's Koko Tsurumi picking up silver.

But a gold medal is still within reach as Bross competes tomorrow in the floor final.

She said: "I didn't do my best routine out there today and I had a few mistakes here and there but I'm happy with how I did.

"Tomorrow I just want to go for it and do my best and hopefully a medal will follow."

Meanwhile, Yan Mingyong added to China's gold tally becoming champion in the rings.

After a convincing performance in qualification the reigning Olympic champion won by only 0.1 of a point.

Bulgaria's Iordan Iovtchev claimed silver and Ukraine's Oleksandr Vorobiov the bronze.
