LUCUS BURNETT scored twice as Manchester Phoenix made it 21-defeats on the spin for rock-bottom Basingstoke Bison with a 5-2 victory.

Burnett and strikes from Brett Clouthier and Alex Dunn put the Phoenix 4-0 up after two periods before the Bison fought back with Shaun Crompton and Ivo Mocek finding the net.

Luke Fulghum's third period goal secured Manchester's win leaving Burnett to heap praise on his teammates.

"It felt really good to score twice," said Burnett, who took his tally to eleven for the season.

"My line-mates played really well and gave me a couple of nice passes and all had to do was just tap them in."

Manchester take on Edinburgh in their next game on Thursday and Burnett warned his side to buck their ideas up ahead of the visit of the Scots.

"We decided to make it a little bit more interesting than it needed to be by letting them back in at the end," said Burnett.

"Mistakes like that could cost you in bigger games but we got the job done."
