THE STEELERS suffered double disappointment at the Sheffield Arena at the weekend, losing to both the Belfast Giants and the Cardiff Devils.

On Sunday they lost 4-3 in overtime to Belfast, while they crashed to the same score 24 hours earlier against Cardiff.

It may have been a second weekend home loss for the league leaders but again they took a point, with the game going to overtime where Steve Thornton grabbed the game winner for Giants.

However, there will be great disappointment in the home ranks as they squandered a 3-2 lead with less than ten minutes to play.

Steelers' head Coach David Matsos said: "Hey, this is our time right now. Nottingham, Coventry and Belfast have all had their wobbles and now it's our turn, we all knew it would come at one point in the year, we all knew that we wouldn't go through the year winning every game.

"This is the big thing though, it's how we deal with the adversity, are we men or are we boys. I happen to think we are men and we will come out of it soon and the stronger for it.

"I wasn't too unhappy with the performance tonight, disappointed in the result of course, especially as it could have gone either way, a bounce here or a bounce there, Steve Munn hit the cross bar in overtime remember.

"First period we were the better team and even at 2-2 I thought we had limited their scoring chances, they scored a nice power play goal and had a shot deflect off Mark Thomas for a second goal.

"We worked harder tonight than on Saturday and that pleased me. Things though that were going our way a few weeks ago are now going against us, that's what adversity is. There will be no panic, there will be a good solid review of both of the games and we will come fighting back on Friday."
