The hosts and defending champions were in complete control against Sweden and, despite failing to complete a shutout for the second consecutive game, finished 13-1 victors.

Agosta's hat-trick takes her to eight for the competition as Canada easily top Group A with a farcical goal difference of 39.

With the USA showing equal dominance in Group B, the competition seems to be a straight contest between the two North American sides.

Cherie Piper and Gillian Apps both scored doubles for Canada with Haley Irwin, Hayley Wickenheiser, Jayna Hefford, Marie-Philip Poulin, Sarah Vaillancourt and Tessa Bonhomme notching the others.

With three players sent to the bin in the final third, the hosts were less dominant and allowed Katarina Timglas in for a power play consolation.
