Clark crashed out at the hands of Austria's Claudia Heill in the first round in Beijing last summer but bounced back today by securing silver in Tbilisi.

Clark won gold in the -63kg in the 2006 European Championships and her switch to -57kg seemed to pay dividends as she won all of her group matches before beating Greece's Ioulietta Boukouvala in the semi-final.

But Portuguese player Telma Monteiro had too much for Clark in the final to secure the gold.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh club-mate James Millar finished seventh in the men's -60kg class after losing to Ukraine's Georgiy Zantaraya and then Austria's Ludwig Paischer in the repechage.

But there was disappointment for Kimberley Renicks who lost her opening encounter with Germany's Michaela Baschin, who later won bronze.
