GREAT Britain claimed two medals in emphatic form yesterday - Lizzie Armitstead grabbed the first of the Games with silver in the women's cycling road race, and Rebecca Adlington snatched bronze in the 400 metre freestyle.

And Team GB are hopeful for securing medals with Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield in the men's synchronised 10m platform final and after a superb qualifying performance, the men's gymnastics squad compete for a medal in the team final.

Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins will be hoping to have a flying start in the women's double sculls heats - and Grainger will be eager to turn three silver medals into gold.
