OLYMPIC silver medallist Heather Fell agonisingly missed out on an end-of-season medal at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final in Rio De Janeiro.

Fell won World Cup silver in 2008 to her Beijing triumph but finished six seconds behind Hungary's Leila Gyenesei in the combined run/shoot in Brazil.

The 26-year-old dropped just 20 points in the riding round before posting the third fastest run/shoot.

But it was not enough to make up the time she had lost earlier in the compeition.

Meanwhile, fellow Brits Mhairi Spence and Katy Livingston finished 12th and 21st respectively.

Gold went to the Lithuania's Donata Rimsaite, while Brazil's Yana Marques captured silver.
