OLYMPIC silver medallist Heather Fell finished sixth at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships but helped Great Britain to a bronze in the team event.

Fell was back in 12th ahead of the run/shoot but came through the field to record vital points. Mhairi Spence was eighth and Louise Helyer 15th while Beijing Olympian Katy Livingston, selected ahead of Helyer for the team event, placed a disappointing 20th.

France's Amelie Caze retained her title ahead of Olympic champion Lena Schoneborn, who helped Germany win team gold. Lithuania’s Donata Rimsaite completed the podium with a storming run/shoot.

However, overall the results were a major disappointment for the British team and underline the hard work ahead of London 2012, if the host country is to continue their run of Olympic medal success, which is unbroken since Sydney 2000.
