Teenager Cooke set for World Cup debut
TEENAGER Jamie Cooke will make his debut in Mexico next month at the opening event on the modern pentathlon World Cup circuit.
Cooke, who at just 18 is still classed as a junior athlete, earned his place on the team after finishing second to Weale in the overall ranking list following national selection competitions.
Cooke joins Beijing 2008 Olympians Sam Weale and Nick Woodbridge in a six-strong British team competing in this season's five World Cup events.
Woodbridge will return to action at the second World Cup of the year in Cairo which takes place at the end of March and is joined in the men's team by David Atkinson, Russell North and Steven Mason.
Heather Fell, who won the silver medal in Beijing, is joined by Samantha Murray and Louise Helyer in the women's competition.
Murray, who at 20 is also still a junior athlete, finished second in the national selection competitions.
Mhairi Spence, who topped the national women's rankings, is joined by Olympian Katy Livingston, as well as Katy Burke and Freyja Prentice in the women's team for Cairo.
